About this Guide 

This guide includes resources related to dolls, toys, board games, video games, and the material culture of play. These resources can be found on the following pages: 

  • Books: Introductory texts available in the BGC Library as well as tips for browsing and searching the collection. 
  • Periodicals & Databases: Tips on finding and accessing articles and journals through BGC and other institutions, as well as annotated relevant databases.
  • Museum Collections: A descriptive list of notable museum collections detailing their primary holdings and tips for locating images.
  • BGC Courses, Exhibitions, & Study Collection: A collection of course offerings and BGC exhibitions related to toys, games, and play.  And an overview of BGC study collection strengths and objects of note.
