Stevenson Library (Bard College)

Stevenson Library's online catalog can be used by BGC students.

BGC holdings appear in Stevenson's catalog, and BGC students have access to their databases, journals, and e-books by logging in with their BGC credentials.

BGC and Stevenson do not share physical collections, and we have separate ILL systems. If you want a book that is held at Stevenson but not available at BGC, place a BGC interlibrary loan request for that title. We will locate a library that can fulfill the request.

Access to University Libraries : Referrals and Passes

If you need to visit a university library in NYC, such as NYU, Columbia, or FIT, the BGC library staff can request a pass on your behalf through our METRO consortium.

Email reference@bgc.bard.edu for a pass. Include the book title, the WorldCat link, and your preferred day to visit. This pass does not grant borrowing privileges; material must be used on-site.  Access is not guaranteed, as visitor requirements are subject to change.

For access to university libraries outside of NYC, the BGC Library is also a member of the SHARES consortium, which allows students access to participating university libraries in the US. Contact reference@bgc.bard.edu for more information.

MaRLI cards : Borrowing from NYPL, NYU, and Columbia

BGC Students may apply to the Manhattan Research Library Initiative (MaRLI). This allows approved NYPL MaRLI cardholders access to materials at NYPL, NYU, and Columbia, with some borrowing privileges at NYU and Columbia (for materials not available at NYPL).

Eligibility requirements can be found on the Research Services page for NYPL.

Please note: Visitors to Columbia University's Butler Library should first consult the library visitor information webpage
